Two day long Science Awareness Programme starts at Sikkim Science Centre

Two day long Science Awareness Programme on “Lab Called Home and Science in the Play Ground” started here at Sikkim Science Centre, Marchak on 9th May. The programme is organized jointly by the Sikkim State Council of Science and Technology and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Mumbai.

On the first day of the awareness programme, Scientist TIFR Mumbai, Dr. Arnab Bhattacharya presented his paper and also performed various practical experiments which the students and the other enjoyed thoroughly.

The programme was attended by around 30 students from Deorali Girls School, Lower Sichey School and Ranipool School, and also from the department, Additional Director of Science and Technology Department, Mr. DT Bhutia, Deputy Director, Mrs. T Donka and other staffs of the Science and Technology Department.

Additional Director, Science and Technology Department, Mr. DT Bhutia during his speech said that the main reason behind conducting the awareness programme is to create awareness and interest among the students in Science sector and also to make them understand basic concept and principal of Science.

He also hoped that this programme will be fruitful to the students participating in it and that it will help to create a love of Science in these students.
