90% houses in Rinchenpong suffer damages due to earthquake

90% of the houses in Rinchenpong Constituency have been damaged by the 18/9 devastating earthquake out of which 40-50% is in such condition where no residence can shelter.

Informing media Minister and area MLA D N Thakarpa said that there are seven Gram Panchayat Units (GPU) under Rinchenpong Constituency and almost all the villages falling under the constituency have been severely damaged. The Minister mentioned that all the relief, medical measures have been adequately provided to the victims in the relief camps but the most worrying problem currently persisting is the road connectivity as the connectivity from Reshi till Rinchenpong is still not cleared.

Three casualties so far have been reported in Rinchenpong constituency pertaining to earthquake and numerous sustained injuries informed Minister Thakarpa, the injured were facilitated with instant medical assistance from the nearby health centers and district hospitals respectively. Thakarpa stated that Samdong village area has developed cracks in the whole belt but the villagers residing just below the Samdong School are in more threat if any slide occurs.

Almost all the villages in Rinchenpong are facing water crisis due to earthquake, considering which Minister Thakarpa even requested Rural Management and Developing Department (RMDD) to restore work as early as possible to mitigate the water crisis.

Mangalbarey senior secondary school, Pemayengchen monastery, Tashiding monastery, Dubdi, Sangacholing monastery has been totally damaged .The Minister said that Chief Minister accompanied by himself visited almost all the district hospitals and met the victims admitted where the CM even distributed the ex-gratia to the victims, Rs 50,000/ for instant relief to those whose house has completely damaged and also distributed required materials like tent or edible items till the restoration work is completed. He said that from day one after the earthquake, he has been working tirelessly in restoration and relief measures in state including the field’s activity as “I have already inspected my constituency where I have carried out the extensive measures in regards to relief work needed by the people.” As a Minister for Health Department he has assured that medicines to the injured victims will be available adequately in all the medical centers, sub centers, district hospitals across state
