22 years old Sonam Pachey hailing from Rumtek, East Sikkim has been chosen as the 1st runner up in the Pantaloon Femina Miss India East 2012. The winner of the PFMI 2012 is Himakshi Agarwala. Himakshi is a counsellor of Fashion Studies and a part-time model.

After the results were announced Sonam said, “I was just praying on stage. All these days of hard work and training have finally paid off.”

In the finalist round, Sonam had said, “Hello, my name is Sonam, and I’m a final year Arts student. Among my many interests, I list travel, swimming, horse-riding, reading and cooking. The fun and adrenaline rush of walking the ramp is beyond compare, and I want to team that with the wonderful opportunity to represent my state and country – an opportunity that PFMI East 2012 provides me with.”

The 5′ 7 Sikkimese beauty queen Sonam Pachey is studies at the Mount Carmel College, Bangalore and has done her schooling from PNGSSS Gangtok.

Sonam won this coveted beauty contest after a tough competition from 11 finalists. As per initial reports Sonam was the only northeastern to have made it to the finalists. The Grand Finale was held at the Chandras’ Green Project of Imperial Lounge at The Hotel Hindusthan International, one of the finest five star luxury hotels in Kolkata.

The finalists’s hair and make up was done by none other than Bridgette Jones and wardrobe was taken care of by well known Kolkata based designer Jaya Misra.

The panel of judges included Alokananda Roy, Swastika Mukherjee, Dev & Nil, Agnimitra Paul, former Pantaloons Femina Miss India Universe 2008 and star of upcoming movie “Jo Hum Chahein” Simran Kaur Mundi and her co-star, Sunny Gill reported TOI. The final top 5- Amrita Dasgupta, Sukalpa Das, Himakshi Agarwala, Subhamita Banerjee and Sonam Pachey

The Grand Finale of PFMI East 2012 was telecast live on ETV Bangla.
