“AISHITURU SIKKIM” says Japanese football player from ONGC Mumbai Yusa Katsumi which means “I Love Sikkim”, in an exclusive interview with Sikkim Mail after sealing their place to the I league.
Born on 2nd August 1988, Katsumi hails from Hikushima, Japan and this is his first visit to Sikkim. He has a father, mother and a sister in his family back in Japan. Katsumi informed that though his father is a serviceman in Japan but always supported him in his footballing career. “I too have a girl friend named Iako Sahito back there in my homeland” added Katsumi.
Katsumi in order to get something in football sacrificed his academics and did only high schooling from Hikushima. “My agent Nishina Kayeto told me about ONGC club” said Katsumi when asked about his presence in ONGC. Prior to ONGC Katsumi had played for Paraguay’s Sporting Salnoranso club, Hikushima club and U-18 Japan National team. His best footballer is Guttuso and best team is ONGC says Japanese lad Katsumi. He said that he wanted to be associated with ONGC and wanted ONGC to be one of the top most clubs in India. Apart from football he likes to play Basketball as it is famous in Japan.
“I love Sikkim and the people resemble to that of Japan and I feel like home away from home” said Katsumi. While walking in MG Marg young boys and girls asked me are you Nepali and this is a strong indication that I Iook like Sikkimese he said. Adding on it he said that the weather is so pleasant, people are so friendly and especially MG Marg and the beef stakes will be never forgotten said Katsumi. Commenting on Bhaichung Bhutia Katsumi said that Bhaichung has the capability of a good leader. He leads the team from the front and provides support and never quarrels, fights in the match which shows his composer. “Even I don’t talk to Bhaichung but I have great respect for him” said Katsumi.
