Much awaited Nepali feature film ‘Acharya’ rolled on the silver screen on Monday at Denzong Cinema Hall, Gangtok.
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was present as the Chief Guest during film’s premier.
Directed by the state’s well know film maker Prashant Rasaily, he films story revolves around the life of the legendary Nepali singer Bhakta Raj Acharya.
Eagerly waiting for the response to his film, the Director said that he and his team has worked hard and tried their level best to do justice to Bhakta Raj Archery’s life. Now the ball is at public court as it depends on them to judge the film.
It may be noted that film’s premier was initially scheduled for September 19, 2011 but was postponed due to the massive earthquake that hit Sikkim the day before. But ‘Acharya’ has already been screened in movie halls in Nepal and was also selected for the 13th Mumbai International Film Festival.
The two hours, 20 minutes feature film is produced by the local entrepreneur Roshan Rai under the banner of Silk Route Pictures.
Minister DB Thapa, NK Pradhan, IPR Secretary KS Topgay, Deputy Mayor Shakti Singh, MLA Gangtok Dorjee Namgyal Bhutia and other distinguished guests were also made their presence in the screening.

i have seen the promos on youtube. They are superb no doubt. I wanted to go to Gangtok in september, 2011 but unfortunately. It seems i have missed it again. Can anyone please tell me if it is slated to be released in siliguri anytime? I would definitely go and watch it. And btw where is Acharya showing now?
