Blaming each other within the political parties of the hills now seems like a relay race. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) because of their demand for the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) has now become the apple in opposition’s eye. Both the GJM and other parties have been blaming to each other and vice versa.

Similarly, yesterday saw the turn of the Gorkha League for putting allegations on the hill’s much loved GJM. The Gorkha League Central Committee General Secretary, Pratap Khati firing his round of allegations on GJM said that the Morcha has sold Gorkhaland and betrayed its people. GTA is a baptized name for Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) which has been functioning in the hills since 2007, he said. Commenting on the President’s address during the Parliamentary Session (where she had stated that, ‘our’ Government keeping in mind the wishes of the people of the hills has granted GTA), Khati said that one can understand by these lines that, during the 11 talks between the GJM and Central Government, there was no discussion about Gorkhaland.

Expressing his disappointment, the Gorkha League GS, further complained that even the MP Jaswant Singh welcomed the statement. He should have in fact explained in the Parliament that, people of the hills want Gorkhaland, not GTA.

Agitation took place, Madan Tamang was murdered at broad day light and numerous people were slain, but what has been the outcome? He questioned. He also complained that right now the Bengal Government is saying 5 will be nominated from Terai- Dooars, and later they shall say there has been understanding for 45 constituencies with the GTA. “We are firmly against GTA”, he underlined. Until and unless Gorkhaland is not formed, the dreams of the people will never get fulfilled and there will be not identity and political safety, Khati added.

“These intelligent leaders have led the Gorkhaland Revolution to a different path”, said Khati sarcastically. It’s high time that the public should be awakened, he concluded.
