Assam Businessman arrested for raping teenager, sending MMS

Rangiya (Assam), 27 April, 2012

A businessman in Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district was arrested today for allegedly raping a teenaged girl and uploading the video recording of the incident on the Internet and sending MMS of the same, police said here.

The 28-year businessman, identified as Jyoti Gupta, had allegedly raped the teenager in February last and had subsequently uploaded the video recording and sent the same to several people on their mobile telephones. The girl’s mother had filed an FIR on February 27 and Gupta was since then absconding. Acting on a tip-off that he had returned to the town yesterday, the police arrested him from his house.
