The Mohammeden SC, Kolkata defeated Royal Wahingdoh, Shillong by a lone goal in the ongoing 2nd Division-I League being played at Palzor stadium on Saturday. Alfred Jaryan’s (10) only goal which came in the 10th minutes of the game sealed clear three points for the team. Mohammedans with this win jumps to the second position labeling Royal Wahingdoh Shillong with 16 points each. Royal Wahingdoh after having a good start in the Gangtok leg has suffered two consecutive in the tournament.
Likewise in the second match ONCG Mumbai easily thrashed Vasco SC Goa by 3-0. Yusa Katsumi (10) scored two goals in the first half of 12th minutes and 34th minutes respectively. Yusa found the first net from the close range manufactured by Sanjay (25). Yusa again found an open net from the deflection of the defenders and added the second. Vasco’s Isa Ali (8) nearly found a goal in the dying minutes of the first half but was saved by keeper Prasanjit. The half time score was 2-0 in favor of the ONGC, Mumbai.
In the mid section of the second half Vasco’s Andrew (20) shot from a close range was yet again saved by keeper Prasanjit. In the added minutes of the game Mumbai’s Kailash Patel the second substitute netted another superb to take the lead to 3-0.
With this win ONGC Mumbai retains the top position with 20 points followed by Royal Wahingdoh, Shillong and Mohammeden, Kolkata with 16 points and host United Sikkim FC in the third place with 15 points. (TS)
