Darjeeling, May 16, 2012:
All glitters are not gold, likewise GTA from nowhere means separate State Gorkhaland said the Gorkha League general secretary Pratap Khati in a press conference held today at Darjeeling, and added that GTA is against the aspiration of the people.
He said that the GJM which once seemed to be the party for the separate State Gorkhaland is found to be running for chair. They have now shifted their main aim and have settled for selfish gains. The GTA and the DGHC bears no divergence said Khati. Public supported and sacrificed in the name of Gorkhaland, but till date no such significant moves has been met by the GJM. It can be said that the people are there where they were, but the GJM leaders are being benefitted said Khati. Gorkha League leader Madan Tamang gave his life for truth who always used the slogan of Satyameva Jayatey and the party will in future will uphold the slogan added Khati.
On its 69th foundation day of the League, we would like to deliver best wishes to all the Gorkhas residing at different parts of the country. Commenting on the Madan Tamang Murder case, Khati said that State government has been not cooperating as they have the valuable information (phone tapping) which is enough to send the culprits behind the bars.
All the suspected accused are freely moving with no fear of laws. Even the CBI has already said that they have not been provided help by the State government. B. Narayanan had also assured to help in the case when the party gave a memorandum to him in the prime minister’s office on December 19th 2011, said Khati, but all went in vain. Likewise the party president Bharati Tamang has made an appeal to the public to light candles in their respective places in the memory of Lt Madan Tamang, whose death anniversary falls on May 21. The party will observe the day and has invited everyone except the GJM she said.
Tarun Gorkha (Gorkha League) youth president Tshewang Bhutia said that at present the environment in the hills is peaceful and will observed the day in a well manner. He informed that the GNLF leader Subash Ghising, GLO leader Chattrey Subba, CPRM president RB Rai, CK Shrestha and other party leaders will be present on the day. The issue of Gorkhaland has become secondary and the party will sensitize the people about this he added. (TS)
