The annual meeting of Sikkim Democratic Front in Arithang constituency was held under the chairmanship of the east district party incharge DT Lepcha at Tsokasum Hall, NamNang. The meeting was attended by the MLAs, the CLCs, the BLCs and the party workers.
Addressing the gathering DT Lepcha appealed the public of Arithang to join hands together and to come under one roof for the development of the area. The people have huge expectations than what they get at times, which has been the main reason of misconception and small fractions within the party. The party workers must work with selfless motives and work for strengthening, building the party stronger he added. Lepcha said that SDF is getting support from every side due to good leadership of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling. The party ideology has been pro poor. It is the nature and practise of the SDF party towards the poor that the party is getting more popular and blessings day by day he added. The party is stable and institutionalised under the able leadership of Pawan Chamling said Lepcha.
Area MLA NK Pradhan addressing the gathering said that there is no one like the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling in the whole world, who has the amount of affection and sympathy for the poor people. The ruling party Sikkim Democratic Front under the charismatic leadership of Pawan Chamling has done countless works, but we have not been able to publicize it and have forgotten the achievements. CM Chamling has been working day and night to bring Sikkim in the national and international map. Adding more he said that theĀ Arithang road will be repaired at the earliest as it has already been approved by the government. He also assured them that their demands regarding settling hawkers in co existence with the village vendors in Lall Bazar would be also considered.
Pradhan advised the people of Arithang to avail the opportunities provided by the government through the Arithang retail management, livelihood schools to get training in retailing jobs. Talking of the deserters, he said that they have either left or have been discarded form the party or applauded the dedicated party workers who have been working for the betterment of the party at every level. He appealed the gathering to picture the future of the State and to dream the dreams visualized by the Chief Minister for the overall development.
On the day solar lamps were also distributed to the beneficiaries by DT Lepcha and the MLA.
Speaker SLA KT Gyaltshen, Mayor KN Topgay, conveners Mingma Sherpa and Karma Ongmu Bhutia also addressed the gathering.
Earlier the programme started with the welcome speech by president CLC C Doma and the programme concluded with vote of thanks delivered by CEC member Pema Bhutia.
