Gangtok, July 13, 2012:

While the Bar Council of India called for protest against the Higher Education Bill, on 11th and 12th July 2012 and the lawyers, country wide went on protesting against it, the judicial activities in Sikkim remained normal.

No agitators were seen in the District or the High Court. No call has been received for 12th either by anyone so far. It may be mentioned that the Bar Council has launched the protest in favour of their demand to exclude the Legal Education & Advocates’ Act from the purview of the Bill being proposed. The proposed law is for regulating legal education.
