4 boys and 4 girls to play in Junior National Archery Championship

For the first time in the state an Indian Archery round was conducted at the day long State Level Archery Tournament organized by Sikkim Archery Association at Palzor Stadium Complex today. The state’s chief coach, Mr. Jigmee Rabgyal informed that 4 boys and 4 girls have been chosen from today’s event for the “Junior National Archery Championship” scheduled at New Delhi from 26th- 31st of December, 2010.

This forthcoming championship will be organized by the Archery Federation of India. He further informed SAA will be conducting two days “Open Compound Bow State level Championship” on 14 and 15th December, 2010. Four best archers will be selected from this tournament to represent the State in the upcoming “National Compound Archery Championship” at New Delhi.

Today’s event started with Junior Boys (40 meters) in which Arpan Rai stood 1st with 316, Satya Sampang 2nd with 313 and 3rd Bimal Rai with 304 points. Followed Junior Girls (40 meters) where Dawday Bhutia grabbed the number one spot with 290 points, Pemkit lepcha 205 and Seema Rai with 185 points.

Likewise in Junior Boys (30 meters) Arpan Rai was again placed 1st with 306 points, 2nd Bhupen Rai with 291 points, and 3rd Satya Sampang with 285 points. And in Junior Girls (30 meters) Miss Dawday Bhutia was placed 1st with 271, 2nd Chung Chung Bhutia with 200 points, 3rd Pema Diki Bhutia 192 points. In the Senior Men (30 meters) Yogesh Limboo stood 1st with 316 points, 2nd Devraj Rai with 309 points and 3rd Suraj Subba with 297 points. Further in the Olympic round Mens+Boys, Mr. Yogesh Limboo again stood 1st followed by Arpan Rai in 2nd position and Suraj Subba in the 3rd position.

Similarly in the Olympic round for girls Dawday Bhutia, Pema Diki Bhutia and Pemkit lepcha stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Ms. Dawday Bhutia was nominated as the Best Archer (Girls) 2010 and Mr. Yogesh Limboo the Best Archer (Boys) 2010.

Chief Guest for the event, Gangtok MLA Mr. Dorjee Namgyal, President for SAA Mr. T.T. Bhutia, Deputy Mayor Mr. Shakti Singh, Secretary SYA Mr Karma P. Bhutia, officials from Sports Department, members of SAA and other sports associations were also present during the event.
