We all must contribute to responsible tourism: K.T Gyaltsen


Tourism is a vast sector and eco tourism, equitable and just tourism is the need of the times, is what the Speaker and the Chief Guest Mr. K.T Gyaltsen stated while speaking on the workshop on Talk for Change for Making Tourism Sustainable Equitable and Just” organized by Impulse NGO Network Shillong, in a local hotel here in the capital.

Mr. Gyaltsen was also very vocal on how the state government under the stewardship of the Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling has been making commendable developments in the promotion and infrastructural development of tourism in the state and making it a sustainable source of income for the people of Sikkim.

He further added that responsible tourism is a must and we all must contribute to it, with ample opportunities available to be availed by the people, it’s now up to people to come forward and make full use of it.

He also thanked the NGO for coming up with such workshops in the state on enlightening topics on such a vast sector like Tourism which is ever growing.

The workshop was also addressed by Joint Secretary Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim, Ms. Prava Rai along with Ms. Nsiha Bansal of United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime, Regional Office for South Asia.

Earlier Ms. Hasina Kharbhih team leader of Impulse made a PowerPoint presentation on the initiative of Encouraging responsible tourism by engaging stakeholders.

The day long secession was attended by the officers from various government departments along with the stakeholders.
