A week long Winter Archery Coaching Camp starts in the capital

“Winter Archery Coaching Camp” was inaugurated at Sikkim Archery Association field at Tathangchen on 26th November, 2010. The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Vice President SAA, Mr. I.B Rai and was organized by SAA. Around twenty archer participants from four district of the state have come to participate in this week long programme under the supervision of State Chief Archery Coach, Mr Jigmee Youzar and Mr Thupden Rongkup.

Among these twenty participants around fifteen are from Gangtok. Inaugural day started at Tathangchen ground but from tomorrow the coaching camp will be conducted at Paljor Stadium as informed by the State Chief Coach, Mr. Thupden Rongkup today here at SAA field, Tathencheng. He further said that the main purpose of conducting this camp was to boost up the confidence of the upcoming archers of the State.

The association have organized this camp during this time keeping in mind the convenience of the students. It was also informed that at the end of the camp these twenty participants will compete amongst themselves and the best will take part in the State Level Open Archery Championship to be held from 14th-15th December at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok. the four top players of this camp will also be getting sport equipment sponsored by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department.

Vice-President SAA, Mr. IB Rai who chaired the inaugural day, urged the participants to complete this coaching camp with dedication and zeal to learn. He also urged them to take inspiration from Tarundeep’s success story.
