Gangtok, Jan. 21, 2011

As the weather is chilled and frosty, most of the people look comfortable walking around doing their routine duties wearing warm clothes. We can see young people marching on the streets dressed in different brands of garments and warm clothes making the Capital look like fashion a street.

Whereas the kids jumps and play around enjoying in multi colored wooden Thai and Chinese garments to the tune of music played at MG Marg where no vehicular traffic disturbs. On the other hand the elderly people are up with their James Bond style over coats and hats whereas the youngsters are still seen wearing short jackets.

The first snow of this season is being enjoyed by the locals as well as tourists visiting the state and is seen in places like Hanumantok, Ganeshtok, and Tashi View Point. Even during the evening people visit these areas. However many tourists are missing the opportunity to enjoy the lovely snowfall in Sikkim due to constant Bandh along NH31A due to strike in the neighboring state as the feeling of insecurity exists within tourist during tours.

While having a chapatti chat with an old person Tsheten Bhutia, from Gangtok town said that, he recollected the winter during his youth and added that he used to have lovely time sitting besides fire on different points of road singing and dancing enjoying popcorns and hot tea. It was very exciting to see snow fall in the near by areas and added that it is not only the local enjoying this beautiful weather of the state but the tourist visiting are equally reaping the benefit of their tour. Young people are enjoying the heaters where as the elderly people like us enjoy the warm room with heater and chang (Brewed millet).
