Chief minister Pawan Chamling is using Article 371F to protect the State Government and his corrupt Ministers form CBI inquiry and for other vested interest rather than Central Income Tax- said the President of Sikkim National Peoples Party (SNPP) Mr. Biraj Adhikari in a press meet here in the capital held on 14th January.

Mr. Adhikari further added that the central government must come forward and instruct CBI to continue investigation otherwise the Sikkimese people will lose faith in the Union Government or the CBI, investigation will only be a drama here in the state and corruption will continue.

Lokayukta Bill and Justice RK Patra commission constituted in the State Assembly has been condemned as the committee constituted cannot function as a court of law and make verdict for punishments, the bill passed in the Assembly is only for safeguarding of their investigation and to escape form the punishments added Mr Adhikari.

He also stated that SDF claims to be a pro poor government in the state but why the CBI investigation upon the charges is filed being openly denied.
Urging the citizens of the state Mr. Adhikari said that now the people of Sikkim must come forward and understand the policies of the ruling government and oppose upon their policies which is not beneficial to the locals.

Mr. Adhikari stated further that the Comptroller Accountant General (CAG) of Sikkim in its report since 16yrs of the ruling government has been mentioning about the corruption being made in the state and sending the copy to the central government but till date no strict and proper action has been initiated by the Central Government and Mr. Adhikari requested the central authorities concerned to focus upon such issues.

Similarly Mr. Dile Kazi Namgyal, Vice President (SNPP) opposing the decision of the ruling government said that the bills passed in assembly will not be accepted. And added that if the CM and his Ministers are not involved in the corruption then why there is the need of constituting a commission rather than granting permission for CBI investigation?

Furthermore condemning the statement of the Spokesperson (SDF) Mr. Bhim Dahal in regards to no corruption in the state and transparency being maintained, Mr. Kazi urged the State government to provide permission for CBI inquiry to prove its innocence in a true sense rather than constituting a Commission.

Finally Mr. Kazi concluded by saying that this is an economic crime and CBI inquiry is must and appealed that people of Sikkim to stand firmly in protecting the Old Laws of the land and raise voice against the corruption as well.
