The Department of Animal and Husbandry distributed a total of 10 milching cows to tribal people of Aritar. Chairman of Poultry Board Mr. PK Pradhan was the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Pradhan informed that the people of Sakyong are taking the government’s mission seriously and progressing accordingly. Mr. Pradhan further asserted that beneficiary of the cow must provide care to the cow, as many people can earn and lead a sustainable livelihood along with fulfilling the demand of milk across the state.
Adding further Mr. Pradhan said that under the dairy mission government have plan of providing 2400 milching cows to people of Sikkim but due to the Gorkhaland movement in the neighboring state the department was unable to bring in the cows from Darjeeling to state because of which the distribution programme was delayed.
Mr. Pradhan appealed the people to be serious about organic farming as Sikkim will be declared organic state by 2015.
Joint director, Animal Husbandry department Dr. RK Tamang informed the people that department has been facing problems since few months back in regards to milk as people are not willing to buy it.

Furthermore the department has plans to make the farmers self
dependent by providing milching cow. During the occasion Panchayats, Mr. Harihar Poudyal, Mr. Bhuwan Singh Gahatraj, Deputy Director Mr. Sandeep Gurung and other officials of the department were present.
