122 students of IHM passes out in the academic session 2010-11 under different deciplines.
The Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) today observed its annual day function for the year 2010-11 where a total of 122 students from different courses like B. Sc degree in hotel and hospitality administration along with diploma in front office, food production and food and beverages were conferred with results, certificate.
The function was chaired by speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly (SLA) Mr. KT Gyaltsen as the chief guest along with secretary tourism Mr. SBS Bhaduria as guest of honor.
Mr. Gyaltshen in his address congratulated the passing out students and requested them to serve to their best of ability and attain better future. Mr. Gyaltsen sharing his experience with the students emphasized that knowledge, skill, capacity; discipline, honest, hard work and humility are important factors or elements to achieve success in life along with happiness. This is the age of globalization where the world is a free market and world has become very small but it is only through competition where the merit ones can achieve success added Mr. Gyaltsen.
In respect to tourism sector or tourism industry Mr. Gyaltsen said that the students have taken the right path as this industry is flourishing and accepted globally but urged the passing out students that they are the future players of the industry and has to perform and work hard to shine the industry globally. Speaking about Sikkim tourism Mr. Gyaltsen said that it is the visionary and able leadership of the Chief Minister and the government that today tourism in Sikkim is really booming and added that tourism is the primary sector for government of Sikkim where every possible efforts are being carried out in making Sikkim tourism globally recognized by 2015.
Where as the principal administrator IHM Mr. JT Gyaltsen in his address said that the number of students in IHM is increasing rapidly under every course available and added that from this year IHM will introducing vocation training to below eight standards in various sectors considering hotel industry. Adding more Mr. Gyaltsen stated that the students are being provided with 100% placements since many years though campus interview and even this year many of the passing out students have been already placed in chain of international hotels.
Furthermore Mr. Gyaltsen said that by June 2011 IHM will be shifted to its new permanent campus at Sajong- Rumtek and the campus will have better facility, where it will be able to provide better training to near about 1000 students in different courses per year. Mr. Gyaltsen adding more said that the administration of IHM is in the process of getting all latest equipments and furnishing the campus and are also working very hard to make the campus fully residential as well.
