Sikkim Karmapa Committee (SKC) has thanked the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling for not recommending any particular name as the rightful claimant to the Karmapa title as during the recent budget session.

Further the SKC has also expressed its happiness that the Chief Minister has appealed the Central Government to immediately enthrone 17th Karmapa at Rumtek Monastery.

While addressing the media during a press conference on 7th April here in the capital the President of Sikkim Karmapa Committee Mr. Wangdi Tshering Lama informed that during the vote of thanks of the current budget session Chief Minister Pawan Chamling did not mention any of the names of the claimants to the title of 17th Karmapa to be enthroned at Rumtek monastery.

It may be mentioned here that SKC are the supporters of Dawa Sangpo who is also one of the claimant to 17th Karmapa title. Mr. Lama further mentioned that their committee wants to see the true Karmapa (read Dawa Sangpo) enthroned at Rumtek Monastery but added that some monks are creating dispute between the devotees.

Mr. Lama further said that Sikkim Karmapa Committee will not accept Ogyen Trinley Dorjee as the 17th Karmapa and will never let him be enthroned at Rumtek. Furthermore Mr. Lama stated that few months back Himachal Pradesh police even seized lot of money from Ogyen Trinley Dorjee’s monastery premises and the case is still under investigation. Mr. Lama alleged that Ogyen Trinley is not the original Karmapa.

Due to dispute amongst the Buddhist disciples the Central Government is also confused about the original Karmapa issue which is delaying the enthronement or appointment of true 17th Karmapa at Rumtek monastery added Mr. Lama.

Sikkim Karmapa Committee will leave for Delhi, next month during that period they even have plans to meet with national media along with some central leaders regarding the 17th Karmapa issue. Furthermore SKC has even planned to place the facts about Karmapa during their visit to Delhi where they will put forward the demand to the central government for enthroning the real Karmapa to Rumtek monastery as soon as possible.
