This year’s academic semester at K.I.B.I. (Karmapa International Buddhist Institute) will end with preaching and blessings by His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje in March. Karmapa Internationa Buddhist Institute is a collge for advanced Buddhist studies based in New Delhi. Its purpose is to foster wisdom and compassion through the study and translation of the great Buddhist treatises.
The session will continue for five days, from March 16 to 20 when the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje will be giving a series of teachings and initiations. His Holiness has not yet decided on the topic of his teachings, but he has agreed to grant the empowerments of Chenresi and Gampopa. Chenresi is Tibetan word for Avalokiteshvara (Lord who looks down with pity ) and Lord Gampopa is considered the father of the Kagyu tradition-the root and basis for its existence, according to the Tibetan Buddhism.
According to the details about curriculum till 20. March 2011 H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa has chosen the text “Letter to a friend”, a classical teaching of the highly realized master Nagarjuna which he started to teach already during his course 2009. H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa will give the initation of Manjushri and Marpa to all students and guests.
Professor Sempa Dorje will also be present for the whole study course and teach “Tsema-Rigter“ the classical book of theory of perception by Sakya Pandita.
