Gorkha Boys Football Club, Delhi will play in the Independence Shield Cup to be held in Kalimpong. In a Press Release issued here on Friday, the Founder Secretary and Coach of the Club Henry V. Kumar said that they have finally been invited by the Kalimpong Sports Association. There is little change in the schedule. Earlier Gorkha Boys were to play their first match on 7th of August, but now they will play their first match on August 9.
Jhaman Thapa will lead a 23 member Gorkha Boys football Club, Delhi team for the Independence Day Shield Cup.
The other members of the team include Sarat C.Singha, Min Vaiphei, Digvijay Singh, Nikhil Chettri, Mohan Kunwar, Kanchan Ghimirey, Samuel Sailo, Sandeep Adhikari, Ajay Rawat, Harel Khaute, Lawrence Dass, Mohd Masud, Sattyam Thapa, Pramod Dorjee, Paulla Kuki, Kapil Bansal and Shailendra.
Team Manage & Coach: Henry V.Kumar, Asst.Manager Prem Lepcha and Physio:Dr Mohd Masud.
A total of five clubs one each from Sikkim, Bhutan, Lucknow, Patna, and Delhi (Gorkha Boys) are participating in the knock-out tournament.
The team arrives Kalimpong on August 8th and plays its first match on 9th August. Gorkha Boys FC will most probably face Bhutan in their first match. All matches will be played at the Mela Ground, Kalimpong.
The final match will be played on Independence Day.
The Secretary and Coach of the Gorkha Boys Football Club thanked the Kalimpong Sports Association for inviting it to participate in the tournament.
