Delhi government gives Rs 5 crore to quake-hit Sikkim

Delhi government on Thursday decided to contribute an amount of Rs five crore for the earthquake victims in Sikkim.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said the amount will be contributed to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for providing necessary help to the victims of the September 18 quake which wreaked havoc in the state.

“There has been a substantial loss of property and lives in the unprecedented earthquake in Sikkim. There is a need to provide all possible help and assistance to the affected persons and it becomes our duty to contribute in this regard,” Dikshit said.
