Namchi Police arrested Chukey Rai of Singtam on 19th October in connection of six girls missing from Katang- Namthang, South Sikkim under human trafficking charges. Police have filed a case under section 365/34 at Namchi Police station against her.
According to police Gumsingh Mangar and four other people had lodged a complaint against Tenzing Bhutia regarding the missing out of their daughters and wives on 13th October in Namchi Police station, respectively. Based on the complaint Namchi Police arrested Tenzing Bhutia and during the investigation Bhutia informed that Chukey Rai has sent the girls to Delhi for job.
A total of six girls were reported missing since October 13, 2011 namely Mai Rani Tamang (17 yrs), Bishnu Kumari Tamang (17 yrs), Tara Tamang, (16 yrs), Krishna Kumari Manger (16 yrs), Amrita Tamang (26 yrs) wife of Subash Tamang and Kusum Manger wife of Goutam Manger repectively.
Soon after the information received from Bhutia, police arrested Chukey Rai (37 yrs) resident of Singtam and during the investigation accused she confessed that she had send all the girls to Delhi for job and all are safe and are in good health. Informing more police sources mentioned that all the missing out girls are from Kalimpong, West Bengal who had been living in Katang – Namthang since few months back.
The accused informed the police that she will be bringing back all the six missing out girls at the earliest.
The guardian of all the missing out girls searched for their daughter, wives at their own level and on failure they lodged the complaint at Namchi Police Station.
