In a function organized by the Department of Food Security & Agriculture Development Department and Horticulture Cash Crop Development Department (FS&ADD/HCCDD) at State Institute of Capacity Building Premises in Karfectar, the department distributed various sanction orders or work orders approved during the Chief Minister’s Village to Village 42 days tour and made payment to the farmers of these districts for completion of water harvesting tank.
Minister for Urban Development and Food Department, D. B Thapa who graced the occasion as Chief Guest made token distribution of various schemes and token payments to the farmers for completion of water harvesting tank.
On the occasion Minister Thapa also released two Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Vehicles and Soil testing bus for the South and West district, the vehicles are loaded with state of art equipments to manage the pests and the bus with modern soil testing facilities which will be reaching all the far flung areas of the districts.
Speaking on the occasion D.B Thapa urged the farmers to work in tandem with the Government in realizing the dream of the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling of making Sikkim and organic state by 2015.
He also informed that government is very committed but without the contribution of the farmers it’s not possible to realize the dream of making Sikkim an Organic state by 2015.
Further he appealed to the farmers to make full use of the various schemes and sanction and work order given to them and work earnestly.
Earlier the Chief Guest also released Agriculture Monthly News letter and Logo of Sikkim Organic Mission.
Four Progressive Panchayat Members from each district were also awarded for their commendable contribution towards agriculture during the function.
D Lepcha of South District, Y.P Sharma of East District, U.P Lepcha of North District and K.B Subba of West District were awarded with cash prize of Rs 5000 citation letter and shawl.
The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to these progressive Panchayats.
Minister for FS&ADD/HCCDD D.N Thakarpa who also graced the occasion as guest of honour also addressed the gathering and highlighted on how the present government is fully committed and towards the farmers and the villagers by introducing various plans and schemes for them and to make them a potent force.
B.M Ramudamu, Advisor FS&ADD/HCCDD and Deepak Gurung, General Secretary Farmer Cell also addressed the gathering.
