Gangtok: January 9, 2012
Save Sikkim Organization has lodged an FIR against the Shiga power project company on January 7 at Tikjuk Police Station, West Sikkim.
The power project company has allegedly used explosive materials which caused a blast in the dark hours of January 4, 2012.
Speaking over the phone, member of Save Sikkim, Prabhuram Kharka informed that the company is still using explosive materials and continuously blasting without the permission of State government. Members of the organization met with SP West and discussed the above issue.
“They don’t have the permission to blast in the tunnel construction work”, mentioned
Kharka. “Villagers of Lower Amlok heard the voice of blasting on the night of January 4. They had lodged an FIR against the company. Since then, villagers are feeling insecure. If the administrative department does not take any action against the company, we will start a state-wide movement”, he warned.
