Secretary FSADD and HCCDD, Vishal Chauhan visited South District on 1st February 2012 along with A Thapa, Addl Director Soil and Water Conservation division of Food security and Agriculture Development department, Joint Director/ South, C B Rai and Deputy Directors B D Rai and Mrs Sunita Pradhan. During the visit progress review was done for the CM’s Package of Dry and Backward Areas in the Lamaten Tingmo GPU of the Ravangla sub-division. Under the scheme, Bench Terracing Work has been granted for 7 Ha to 35 no. of Beneficiaries and 70 no water harvesting tank scheme is also under implementation. During the inspection of Mangbru, Hingdam, Lamaten, Upper Tingmoo and Lower Tingmoo wards, work was found to be implemented satisfactorily and direction was given that those beneficiaries who have completed construction of tanks are to be made payment of Rs 40,000 as per government norms and others are to complete the work at the earliest.
Later on team visited Deythang Bring G.P.U and inspected the work in the Bring, Lower Jarong, Upper Deythang and Lower Deythang wards. In this GPU 77 no of Water Harvesting Tank of capacity 20000 Liters are under implementation and Bench terracing is sanctioned in the 25 Ha of area for 197 no of beneficiaries. Here also farmers were requested to complete the work at the earliest. It is also to mention that in the same GPU demand for 80 ha plantation of Amliso was also made during the HCM tour and same also has been sanctioned and it will be implemented in the coming season.
