In its second league match of the I-League 2nd Division on Sunday Bhaichung Bhutia’s United Sikkim FC (USFC) routed Eagles 7-2. Till half time the USFC had scored two goals while Eagles FC had none.
USFC has been receiving a huge response and tremendous support from the audience. United Sikkim has thanked its fans for the great support.
With this victory the USFC with six points has made to the top of the table in Group 1. United Sikkim has won both its league matched played till now. In the first match played on Thursday, February 2, 2012 USFC defeated Bhawanipur FC 3-2 at Silcher, Assam.
Quinton Norman Jacob and Daniel Bidemi scored 2 goals each where as Thoi Singh and Babatunde scored one goal each. After the easy victory over the Eagles Bhutia said that each and every match for USFC is very much important. “Boys played at their best” said Bhaichung and if they will maintain the momentum, certainly USFC is going to make to the second round said Bhutia. Captain Nim Tshering Bhutia of USFC said that he was pretty pleased and satisfied with the team. “We are putting our best efforts and hope that we will come out with flying colours.”
In other league matches played on Sunday in Group 2 Kenkre defeated Quartz 4 – 1 while Royal Wahingdoh drew 2 – 2 against SESA Football. In Group 3 league matches Golden Threads beat PIFA Colaba 2-0 and Mohammedan won 1 – 0 against Vasco SC.
United Sikkim will next face Green Valley in another league match on February 7, 2012. The final round of the tournament is slated to be held at Siliguri or in Gangtok.
