NEW DELHI, March 14:

The Gorkhaland Task Force (GTF) synthesis of the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP), Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxists (CPRM), Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League (ABGL), Gorkhaland Rajya Nirman Morcha (GRNM), Gorkha Democratic Front (GDF) and Nepali Sammelan, New Delhi on Thursday met with the West Bengal Rajya Sabha MP Saman Pathak at the Constitutional Club, New Delhi.

Over this brief tea talk the MP first mentioned about his ending tenure to all the representatives present there. Saying that the Nepali speaking community should get the identity of a minority community in the country he appealed the gathering to support him in this decision. Though in the state of West Bengal it has already been declared still they should be provided the minority identity in states like Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand he added. Even the implementation of it in Darjeeling and Dooars is needed to be taken forward more seriously. Lastly he added that the identity issue should be made a National subject and the people should take this matter solemnly for it is their right.

Later the representatives also met with the Sikkim Lok Sabha MP, PD Rai at his official residence at New Delhi and presented the memorandum and documents regarding Gorkhaland and also appealed him to support them.

The representatives from BGP were namely Rev. Dr. Anos Das Pradhan, Sukhman Moktan, R Moktan, Munish Tamang, Joel Rai and Pappu Pradhan. From CPRM LM Lama, Tara Mani Rai and Govind Chettri, from ABGL Laxuman Pradhan, Pratap Khati and Thempa Tamang, GRNM’s Dawa Pakhrin and Tika Khati, GDFs’ Surya Bikram Sahi and Sameer Pradhan and from Nepali Sammelan, New Delhi Damber Mani Pradhan, Lt. The news story is factually wrong on the following counts:
    1. This was not a non-Jan Mukti Morcha leaders delegation to meet MPs from Sikkim and W.B.
    2. This was a tea party organized by the Rajya Sabha M.P. from Darjeeling, W.B. and had invited the people on personal level as his tenure was ending and wanted to have tea with the people of Nepali/Gorkha community with whom he had interactions during his tenure.. When the undersigned received a phone call from Mr. Saman Pathak, M.P. the then MP Rajya Sabha, it was asked whether he was inviting the organisation I belong to or it is a personal invitation on tea and he clearly mentioned that this has nothing to do with a meeting with any organisation. Hence, the members of Nepali Sammelan, Delhi present on this tea party were there on their personal level and were not representing the organisation they belong to i.e. Nepali Sammelan, Delhi.
    3. The undersigned and the members of Nepali Sammelan present on this tea party never went to meet Sikkim MP as has been reported in the story.

This is just to put the facts in right perspective. However, I personally, am not against the formation of Gorkhaland State so far it is achieved through democratic and peaceful manner.

Kindly publish a corrigendum at the earliest.
    With best regards,
Vishnu Gurung (and not Bishnu Gurung as has been printed)

This is true whatever Vishnu Gurung has written here. The NEWS has been changed in some points.
The Honorable M.P. has invited us in a tea as his term of that time’s Rajya Sabha is going to finish. there were not any other MPs than himself only Mr. Pathak. The issue he raised there was for Linguistic Minority for Gorkhas of India and its impact for the Gorkha community. while we Surya Bikram Shahi & samir pradhan were the representative of Gorkha Democratic Front.
