Gangtok, 16 October 2012:
The ruling SDF party has squarely blamed rebel party MLA Prem Singh Golay of leading the Namthang violence which took place recently. The violence by Golay supporters has become their signature in Sikkim, it said.
In the press statement the ruling front accuses Golay leading his supporters to attack the SDF office in Namthang, South District where area MLA Tilu Gurung was holding a party meeting. The SDF received information from party vice president GM Gurung that many of miscreants were from outside the State.
“ The violence in Namthang was a huge by any standards especially for a peaceful place like Sikkim. They broke shops, vehicles and injured many people. Anymore who came nearby they beat up. The injured included Prahlad Gurung, Subhash Rai, Raju Darjee, CB Tamang and others. The violent mob was led by Golay himself”, said the ruling front.
“For a person who was made three times Minister and four times MLA by the SDF party this turnaround is nothing but not being given the posts he so desired. Hence he has been reduced to doing exactly what he is best capable of- fighting a losing battle that too with violence as his tool”, said the SDF.
