They are normally assigned with the role of shaping the society by being a guide and nurturing the brains of children. What individuals achieve in life and what they become in later life is all due to this dedicated training and development of the child’s brain by teachers.
However, in a reversal of role of sorts, for the first time, teachers from South and West Sikkim would be on the stage and students would sit on the gallery cheering for them, when they battle their quizzing wits at Guru Quiz 2012, a first of its kind competition for school teachers in Sikkim.
Guru Quiz 2012 is an initiative of Dans Energy and is a part of its continued educational corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the state. The idea behind the quiz was a firm belief that in order to make education inclusive, teachers also should be provided an exposure to positive competition. Guru Quiz 2012 is an initiative to involve teachers directly in the process of active learning and fun through the platform of quizzing.
Speaking on Guru Quiz 2012, Praveen Kumar, Director of the group and looking after the Sikkim projects told this correspondent over phone that it is the group ideology that went into the concept of the quiz. “We believe that teachers are creators of the future”, said Kumar.
“Quizzing is a great platform to engage and interact and this is one of its kind event which is happening in Sikkim. We are extremely delighted to organize Guru Quiz 2012 for Dans Energy and strongly support their educational initiatives,” said Dewaker Basnet, Quizmaster and Head Research, QYOU!, the quizzing vertical of 24 hours inspired.
14 schools from West and South Sikkim have been invited for Guru Quiz 2012 and the response for the same has been overwhelming. The event will be conducted at Panchsheel Bhawan, Jorethang, South Sikkim on 17 November 2012.
