A Jaguar fighter aircraft which took off from Bagdogra airport near Siliguri in West Bengal crashed today in a forest near Lik in Upper Dzongu in North Sikkim, said Colonel Gurung of 27 Mountain Division stationed in North Sikkim.
The fighter jet crashed at around 1.15pm said Gurung, however, the fate of the pilot was not immediately known.
Flight Lieutenant Yogesh Yadav, who was flying the aircraft, had bailed out reports said.
Army troops have launched a search for him and his fate was not immediately known, Army sources said.
