Sikkim: Governor extends his warm greetings on Bhanu Jayanti

Gangtok, July 12, 2013:

On the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti (13th July), the Governor of Sikkim, B.P. Singh extended his warm greetings to all the people of Sikkim.

Bhanubhakta Acharya (1814 AD–1868 AD) is the greatest poet of Nepali language. He translated the great epic ‘Ramayana’ from Sanskrit to Nepali.

Governor B.P. Singh said, “Shri Bhanubhakta Acharya was an exceptional scholar who made immense contribution to the world of literature. The richness of the Nepali language owes much to him.”

The Governor urged the Sikkimese youths to carry out their scholarly pursuits keeping in mind the greatness of Shri Bhanubhakta Acharya.
