Social Welfare additional director P.P. Neopaney yesterday said that only Sikkim Subject holder Buddhist and Christians are counted as minorities in Sikkim for availing of different scholarships under Prime Minister’s 15 points programme for the welfare of minorities.
Addressing the technical session on Prime Ministers new 15 points programme for the welfare of minorities Public Information Campaign on Bharat Nirman here, he also highlighted about various scholarships schemes. Despite the Supreme Court ruling against making of Aadhar as mandatory documents to be produced for availing of different scholarship, in Sikkim it has been continued as one of the important document, he said.
Further keeping view the high cost of living, request has been made to the centre for enhancement of scholarship amount, Neopaney added.
Similarly addressing the technical session on Indira Aawas Yojana, Gram Vikash Adhikari Tshering Bhutia informed that 72 households had been identified as targeted beneficiaries after a baseline survey in Parakha block who were provided the housing facilities under the scheme dovetailed with MGNREGA and Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme.
