Sikkim MLA’s vehicle vandalized, Police arrest 5 SKM men

Five people have been arrested by West Sikkim Police on May 5 for allegedly vandalizing a vehicle of Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) MLA PL Subba. All arrested are reportedly supporters of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM).

The incident occurred early May 5 morning at around 2 a.m., police said.

“The vehicle of the MLA was parked below his house. The suspected persons have been arrested based on the FIR lodged by the MLA, a senior police officer at Geyzing Police Station said.

All the windows of the while government Scorpio (bearing number SK 01-GA0046) has been broken and the bonnet of the SUV has also been damaged.

“This is an act of the supporters of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, the police are carrying out the investigation, the MLA said.

All five arrested are NB Gurung, Janak Gurung, Roshan Chettri, Chandra’s Bahadhur Gurung and Sandeep Gurung. They have bneen booked under prevention of destruction of public property Act under 427 of IPC (mischief causing damage).

The Spokesperson of SKM MN Dahal declined the allegation. He said that party is yet to start membership drive there and that there is no question of SKM’s involvement in the incident.
