A meeting of apolitical organisations comprised of SAVE Kabi-Longtsok Committee, Ong Shezum (Lepcha Youth Association) North District and Sikkim Bhutia Lepcha Apex Committee (SIBLAC) was held at Gangtok on June 19, 2013 under the Chairmanship of Tseten Tashi Bhutia, Convenor of SIBLAC.
The meeting unanimously resolved to appeal the Sikkim Government to stop the project “Development and Beautification of Historical Place at Kabi Lungchok in North Sikkim” immediately in the interest of Sikkim and Sikkimese.
The meeting also welcome and extended appreciation to all the organisations like DUCHI (Monk Body) of Kabi Lingtsok Sangha Thargayling Goenpa, Sikkim Bhutia Lepcha Apex Committee (SIBLAC), National Sikkimese Bhutia Organisation (NASBO), Renjyong Mutanchi Rong Tarjum (Sikkim Lepcha Association), Ong Shezum (Sikkim Lepcha Youths Association) for taking a bold stand against the proposed project at historical and sacred place of Kabi-Lungtsok and submitting representations to Chief Secretary and other concern authorities of Govt. of Sikkim.
It was mentioned in the meeting that the above project was objected before floating tender by Sonam Tshering Bhutia, President, Save Kabi Lungtsok Committee, which is reflected in the local daily SIKKIM NOW page 2 dated 14th May 2013.
Tseten Tashi Bhutia apprised the members present about the historic 13th Century Oath and Blood Brotherhood Ceremony of Kabi-Lungtsok, laws of the land including Act of Parliament on Places of Worships followed by Sikkim Govt. Notifications etc.
He clarified that one should not be against any genuine developmental activities of the government but should oppose if it is against the distinct identity of Sikkim and Sikkimese which is protected under Article 371F of the Constitution of India.
Further, the meeting also resolved to conduct a daylong prayer meet by Revered Bong-things and Venerable Monks at Kabi-Lungtsok on 24th June, 2013 from 9 A.M. onwards under the banner of Save Kabi-Lingtsok Committee and Ong Shezum (North) for which a committee was setup headed by Chewang Rinzing Lepcha and Tashi Rapden Bhutia.
Meeting concluded entrusting all the members to appeal one and all to attend this holy event for universal peace and betterment of all sentient beings.
