Sikkim’s Dewakar Basnet is among the 25 young Indian entrepreneurs shortlisted to represent India at the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Summit (G20 YEA Summit) in Moscow, Russia scheduled for June 15 to 17.
This is the fifth summit held by the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance and will be hosted by the Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE), a leading-edge entrepreneurship development organization based in Moscow with centers in St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod.
A press release informs that Young Indians is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India’s premier business association formed in 2002 with the objective of creating a platform for young Indians to realize the dream of a developed nation.
“As CII do not have its registered office in Sikkim, Basnet will be going from Kolkata, Head, CII, North Bengal zonal office Laxmi Limbu Kaushal, adding that by the end of July or by August an office of Young India would be established in Sikkim Chapter.
She added that CII registered office establishment would be only done after holding talks with the Chamber of Commerce, and Government of Sikkim in near future. Addressing a press conference here at the Press Club of Sikkim, the CII head said that the young Indian entrepreneurs will at the G20 YEA Summit focus on solutions to address critical issues facing all G20 countries, including ways governments, academia, NGOs and business communities can work together to provide aspiring young entrepreneurs with foundational support to ensure their success.
“G20 YEA summit will focus on entrepreneurship organizations of G20 countries and the host CFE provides valuable inputs to government leaders to assist in driving sustainable global economic growth, exchange ideas and to foster international partnerships and collaborations, Kaushal said.
She further said that it was a proud moment for a Sikkimese Entrepreneur to represent Sikkim and the Nation in the international forum.
“It is of course a proud moment for me to attend such a summit, for which I have also been selected to deliver a speech on ‘education’. The summit will have representatives from top 20 countries of the world and I am sure that I would be enlightened in lots of issues which will act as a value addition for me and my country which will be shared for the benefit and development of the nation in days ahead, Basnet, who was recently conferred one of Sikkim’s highest civilian awards said.
On his topic on education, the young Sikkimese will be addressing ‘inclusive competition’ to be introduced in all educational institutions giving equal opportunities to 100 percent students pursuing their education rather than the selected few.
