Minister Health D.N Takarpa, Minister Buildings Tilu Gurung along with Chief Secretary R. Ongmu, Secretary Home Department M.G Kiran, Secretary Health Dr. Kumar Bhandhari, and Secretary Buildings M.B Gurung and other concerned officials today visited the construction site of multispecialty 1000-bedded Hospital in Sochyagang, Sichey here in the suburbs of the capital city.
During the visit Ministers and the Chief Secretary visited the construction site and inspected the ongoing construction works.
The multispecialty 1000-bedded hospital which has completed 73% of physical progress is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 475.78 Crore and due to complete tentatively by December 2014 which is being constructed by Civil Engineer Enterprise Private Limited Kolkata.
The visiting team inspected all the section of the ongoing construction of the hospital and the work in progress in each and every section from the ground floor where parking, Post Mortem, Mortuary will be there, to the top floor where Intermediate Reference lab and Infections and Isolation wards will be situated.
They also inspected the auditorium, library and study centre for the doctors which are also being constructed.
During the visit the Chief Secretary R Ongmu advised the contractors and the concerned officials to raise the man power and speed up the construction and other works.
She also asked the concerned Secretary M.B Gurung to have a wider roads approach to the hospital for smooth vehicular traffic keeping in mind the future where the vehicles will grow in numbers. She further added that if possible they should acquire land in and around the area to have a separate Tuberculosis Cell and Sanitarium sorts.
Mrs. Ongmu also advised that keeping the future in mind they should try and increase the car parking space from current 150 and try and find other parking spaces in and around the hospital. Rain harvesting system should also be installed in the hospital so that hospital can use the water in other uses, she added.
Most importantly she asked the concerned officials to have a proper system and place to dispose Bio-medical waste and a good sewerage system.
