Universal Peace Federation of Sikkim had organized a 5 Day Youth Leadership Seminar on Universal Principles (Peace Education) for the 34 youths participants of Sikkim at Tadong, Gangtok from 20th May – 25th May under the supervision of its West District Co-ordinator Mr. I. B. Limboo and Sub-Coordinators Mr. D. K. Chettri, Mr. Ganga Limboo and Mr. Kanchan Pradhan. The opening ceremony was graced by Mr. Ashok Gurung, Chairman of OBCs Welfare Board and also an Ambassador for Peace of UPF.
The programme was mainly focused on the moral, character and value education for uplifting the youth from all walks of life and to combat the mushrooming problems of today’s world. It also emphasized on the family education, strengthening of family by love, care, moral value, ethics among family members based on the teachings ‘Peace Education’ of the UPF’s founder Dr. Sun Myung Moon. All the participants showed their keen interest and came out with the ideas and innovation for the betterment of youth of tomorrow’s Sikkim and also discussed the various problems faced by the youth today. Mr. Dendup Sherpa, Mr. Santosh Adhikari and Ms. Chatra Maya Subba were the main resource persons of the seminar.
The valedictory function was attended by Mr. G. M. Gurung, Chairman UPF-Sikkim as Chief Guest and Mr. H. P. Dhakal, Publicity Secretary and Mr. Tshering Sherpa, Treasurer and Mr. Dendup Sherpa, Director of UPF,Sikkim on 25 May, 2011,
The chief guest Mr.G.M Gurung placing his words of blessing to the participants to move ahead in life by practicing the principles and also to encourage others by sharing experiences and the teachings to others what they have learned from the seminar, and not to confine within themselves for the welfare of state as to contribute and substantiate the vision of Dr. Pawan Chamling, Chief Minister. The programme was also addressed by Mr.H.P. Dhakal inspiring the participants to work hard at right time and awaken for the betterment of society, nation, world and Universe by inculcating the universal principles taught by the resource persons throughout the seminar. Mr. Dhakal ended his words by saying ‘Life itself is a training and one should learn in each and every step’.
The closing ceremony was started with welcome speech by Mr. D. K. Chettri, Sub- Coordinator, West District and ended with vote of thanks by member, Krishna Mani Sharma.
