United Bhutan bagged the champion’s trophy of the “12th Chief Minister Gold Cup Archery Tournament 2011” held at Sikkim Archery Association ground, Tathangchen organized by Sikkim Archery Association.
The sixteen days long tournament concluded today with a magnificent game. In the final match United Bhutan defeated Penden Cement (Bhutan) with 42 points against 40. Winning team was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 56,000/- along with a trophy and certificate whereas Penden Cement was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 28,000/- along with trophy and certificate.
The function was graced by the Speaker SLA Mr. KT Gyaltshen accompanied by Minister Sports, Mr. NK Pradhan.
STshewang Dorjee Bhutia of United Bhutan was announced as the man of the match and awarded with cash prize along with a trophy and certificate. The day was also marked with cultural programmes along with the felicitation of Mr. Zigmee Bhutia and Mr. Sherap Bhutia who have dedicated their life towards Archery, by SAA.
Addressing the gathering Chief Guest Mr. KT Gyaltshen congratulated the entire team of SAA for organizing the event and even expressed his gratitude for conducting such a tournament in the state. He said that “the game of archery is not only game but the game preserves and promotes our ethnic culture as well”.
Speaker also congratulated the team of Bhutan for participating in the tournament and expressed his delightfulness to know that the game of archery has been able to promote and inculcate international integration. He congratulated all the teams who had come all the way from Bhutan and quoted that “Where there is a will there is a way”.
In the end President of SAA, Mr. TT Bhutia expressed his happiness over successful conduction of 16 day long “12th Chief Minister Archery Gold Cup Tournament 2011” and said that “we shall be conducting more and more activities in days ahead”.
