A cold blooded murder was witnessed here at the capital today at Bojoghari area when victim Naina Kala Chhetri aged 33 years was brutally murdered by her husband Jai Lal Baitha aged 54 years serving as a follower rank (Dhobi) in Sikkim Armed Police.
The Sadar Thana Incharge PI Tshering Sherpa revealed that the accused Jai Lal Baitha had beaten his wife Naina Kala Chettri mercilessly with a wooden cane and she succumbed to the multiple injuries henceforth. The motive behind the murder is still undergoing investigation as the interrogation is still under process informed PI Sherpa.
He further informed that the police received the information via phone call around 3:40 pm in the evening from the son of the owner of the rented house Aman Rai, where the husband and wife were residing as a tenant. The police force took immediate action after they received the information which lead to the arrest of the accuse Jai Lal Baitha from the spot who was found drunk at the time of arrest and the victim Naina Kala Chhetri was found lying dead when the police reached the spot stated Mr. Sherpa. The formal FIR was lodged around 4:10 pm in the evening he added.
It was further revealed that the victim Naina Kala Chettri was the third wife of the accused. The body of the victim has been sent for post mortem and the accuse Jai Lal Baitha is undergoing interrogation and meanwhile the accuse has been charged with section 302 IPC.
