Bimal Gurung condemns Ashok Bhattachrya’s allegations

Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has started its Padyatra (march) from Sunkosh on 17th February which will reach Sipchu on 27th February, and on the same day GJM is expected to hold a public meeting at Sipchu, Kumani.

Padyatra by central committee members of GJM is also expected to join which was supposed to start from Kumani. Due to imposition of sec 144 by West Bengal government it was postponed.

President of GJM Mr.Bimal Gurung informed that GJM have gained knowledge from the Sipchu incident and has made the Gorkha’s more dedicated and encouraged to move forward with the Gorkhaland movement. GJM have been following the Gandhian principal throughout the movement and believes in non violence.

Mr. Gurung added that GJM does not blame the West Bengal police for the Sipchu incident as it was the direction of the state government, where police are merely puppets in the hands of the government who were following the instructions from their superiors.

He also mentioned Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM) is implementing a double policy in Bengal mixing Politics and killing people simultaneously. Mr. Gurung in respect to the Sipchu incident said that there were no such situation where firing was necessary; but it was created by the state government during which three GJM supports were killed on spot leaving many severely injured during the clash and the injured supporters are now still under treatment at Kalimpong hospital.

Urban Development Minister Mr. Ashok Bhattacharya in his statement few days back had said that GJM has links with rebel groups of North East and Maoist, but Mr. Gurung has strongly condemned the statement and said that GJM is practicing the Gandhian philosophy of non-violence in attaining the separate state whereas the government of West Bengal is creating violence in the hills and Dooars areas to create negative image of the movement to Central Government.

Mr. Gurung pointed out that Gorkha’s since long are facing the identity crisis in their own country and the demand of Gorkhaland is constitutional and fundamental rights of Gorkhas. The demand of Gorkhaland is not only for Gorkha’s living in Darjeeling district but for every Gorkha citizen of the Indian union. Few days back a dharna was organised in front of Assam Legislative Assembly jointly by All Assam Gorkha Student union and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha demanding for Gorkhaland during which many Gorkha supporters were present. It is well known from that dharna that the demand of Gorkhaland is the demand of every Gorkha citizens of the nation.

Gurung is hopeful that that Gorkhaland Bill in Assam Legislative Assembly will be passed soon. Gurung reiterated that GJM will continue the movement till the demand is achieved in the most non violent way.

All ar e hoping for achivement of the altimate goal i.e. GHORKHALAND sooner of later .Howewver it is a humble suggestion to the leaders of the GJM to involve the leaders of CPRM & BGP( Bharatiya Ghorkha Parisang) to strength the movement as such this is a last & final movcement as commenets by the leaders of GJM. It is also suggested that a JAC( Joint Action Committee) can be formed just like in Telengana movement.

    With best wishes,
