Sikkim Educated Unemployed Association (SEUA) has congratulated the Government (Department of Personnel) for its stand of terminating 2 Under Secretaries (US) recently as they were appointed on the basis of OBC and MBC Certificates which they had obtained fraudulently.

In a press release issued by the president of the Association Shri T B Rai he has said that this step of the Government has opened a new avenue for the poor and deserving educated unemployed youth of the state. However the release also states that in one hand the Government has taken this brave stand by taking this decision of cancelling the appointment of the two Under Secretaries who had been appointed because of a false certificate but the Government is not taking any action against those authorities who had issued the certificate to these two USs in the first instance and have called this as a double standard. It also states that the price of the irresponsible work of the SDMs and the BDOs is being paid by the educated unemployed youths and the Association has further demanded for a strong action from the Government on this issue.

Further the release has also informed that in the year 2002 one of the USs who was terminated Ms Bina Devi Sharma was appointed as a Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) under general seat and she has appeared in the State Civil Service Examinations as an in- service candidate. The Association has demanded for a clarification from the Department of Personnel as to what will happen to that post of PGT and on what basis the Dop has terminated this post of PGT in respect of s Bina Devi Sharma.

The release also states that since 2004 almost a thousand candidates have been appointed in various posts in the Government service on the basis of such false certificates, now as the Government has decided to terminate these two what will happen to all the appointments from 2004 onwards that have been made on the basis of such certificates, questions the release and demands that all such appointments should be cancelled by the Government and justice should be delivered. It further states that some of the SDMs and BDOs who are the issuing authority of such certificates also have buildings in market area, and their parents are also holding high posts in the Government. Further it says that the SDMs and BDOs who themselves have been appointed on the basis of such false certificates are now issuing more such certificates which in turn is darkening the future of the truly deserving candidates of Sikkim. Further it also adds that because of the DoP should carefully examine the candidate’s documents properly and thoroughly and should not create more confusion for the youths of the state.

Coming to one of the contenders of the post of US, Ms Baby Mukhia the release states that the SDM, Soreng has cancelled her MBC certificate which was also published in the local newspapers but she is already working as a PGT which she had got under MBC quota, now the Association is seeking for a clarification as to what will happen to her appointment in the post of PGT as now it has been proved that she does not come under MBC category. Further it also says that one of the SDMs was also appointed under OBC quota but she also possesses a five storied building in the Bazzar area and has questioned the Government as to why no action is being initiated against such defaulters.

Further the Association has demanded for a clarification from the Government on these issues and had concluded by saying that all should be equal in the eyes of law.
