Gangtok 28 January:

“We are encouraging the youth to deviate towards private sector due to lack of government services in the state and the unemployment problem is increasing on daily basis” informed President All Sikkim Educated Self-Employed and Unemployed Association (ASESE UA) Mr. Nawin Kiran Pradhan in a press conference organised in the capital on 28th January.

Mr.Pradhan said that the Association will be holding a seminar to discuss about increasing unemployment problems of the state and try to work out a solution to mitigate the problem as well. He stressed that State Government is unable to provide 100% job to unemployed youths, so considering the fact now youth should focus in the private sector. Mr. Pradhan mentioning further said that being a social organization ASESEUA can only guide the youths in obtaining their goals set in future.

Mr. Pradhan asserted that due to the movement initiated by the association, extension rate has decreased in the state but the movement will continue unless extension is totally stopped or eradicated. Association is serious about extension issue and will never step back from taking action against it. He also reiterated the stand of the association that it will always oppose the extension process because due to extension many people and capable youths are deprived of government services which creates increase in unemployment problems in the state.

Speaking on stay order for conduction of GT examination Mr. Pradhan mentioned that appearing candidates must have felt injustice done by the concerned department and urged the department to think seriously about the issue because the concerned department without proper information had issued a notification.

He appealed the State Government along with the concerned department to allow the candidates applied for the GT examination to appear in the examination and informed that the department after completion of examination can select the suited candidates and appoint.

In regards to 45% criteria adopted by department the association stated that they accept the criteria but requested that the criteria should be imposed in future examination.

In respect to creamy layers employees Mr. Pradhan said that there are many such government employees in different departments from creamy layer and government must prepare a list of such people where as the department concerned must check documents properly before appointing them in government services.

Finally Mr. Pradhan concluded by stating that there is still confusion in MBC and OBC which needs to be clarified by the state government.
