BJP presents memorandum to the Chief Secretary for grant of permission to hold CBI inquiries against high level functionaries of the Government
Bharatiya Janata Party Sikkim unit today presented a memorandum to the Chief Secretary Mr. TT Dorjee requesting for gathering immediate sanction for conducting investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the corruption cases for which the FIR has been lodged.
The memorandum had incorporated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sought sanction from the Government of Sikkim to register a formal case against the Chief Minster Pawan Chamling along with other cabinet ministers of Sikkim in corruption cases. Similarly the memorandum adds the letter written by the CBI seeking sanction from the Government and it clearly mentions that “various public servants holding posts of CM and MLAs during the period form 1999-2009 in Sikkim have indulged in various corrupt practices and have acquired disproportionate assets”.
Informing the press, the President of BJP Sikkim unit Mr. Padam Bahadur Chettri said that, the above letter was sent in the month of October and till date no sanction has been provided. Similarly Mr. Chettri mentioned that in the memorandum presented that the non- granting of sanctions till date amply gives an indication of the reluctant attitude adopted by the Government. The people at large in this country may fix responsibilities against the concerned personnel including the functionaries responsible for issuance of sanction for investigation, if the sanction as sought for is not issued immediately because the misappropriation and corruption has been done form the tax payers money. Considering the same the BJP has requested the Government to provide sanction immediately.
Mr. Chettri added that on 6th of this month the President would be marching to Delhi to meet the director of CBI and even to hold discussion with the party high command in regard to the same issue.
