Chief Minister Pawan Chamling will be visiting quake affected North Sikkim from 25th till 30 October 2011. During the visit he will sanction demands placed by the people, in principle.
A coordination meeting of all Ministers, MLAs, elected representatives, panchayats, DCs, ADCs, SDMs, BDOs and heads of department was held today here at Chintan Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling. While addressing the gathering Chief Minister Pawan Chamling announced his visit to north district from 25th October.
CM informed that due to the devastating earth quake that jolted Sikkim on 18th took scores of lives and damaged property amounting Rs. 7,425 crores across state.
The CM will also be attending the Northeast Development Council meeting at New Delhi scheduled on 22nd October 2011 where he will be placing the report of damages met by state during earthquake.
‘We have to learn a lesson from this incident’ added the CM. He mentioned that due to earth quake a total number of 53172 building across state has suffered damages out of which 21645 buildinghas been damaged in North Sikkim, 15337 in West, 12858 in South and 3253 building in East Sikkim. He said that government has distributed Rs.61 crores 64 lakhs till date to the earthquake victims.
