Candidate’s demands stay order in the forthcoming GT Exams conducted by SPSC.

The candidates who have filled up the form for the next Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC) examination for graduate teachers under Human Resource and Development Department have voiced their criticism against the new notification dated 2-1-2011 issued by the HRDD changing the criteria for appearing in the above mentioned examination and have demanded a stay order.

Speaking with media the candidates and Adhoc teachers stated that during the first notification dated-16th September 2010 the department did not mention any criteria for the candidates appearing in the SPSC examination for appointment of the GT Teachers, any graduate person was eligible to fill the form and appear in the examination. On the basis of which many candidates had applied. Adding further the candidates appearing informed that the new notification that was published on 2nd of January 2011, the department has prescribed 45% minimum marks to appear for the same GT examination.

Candidates added that due to the new criteria added for appearing in the examination many candidates have been disqualified automatically, however they have already filled in the forms and were preparing for the exams. The examination are to be held on 15th to 18th of February, where as the admit card is likely to be provided from 3rd of February.

The candidates appearing the GT examination have requested the concerned department to put a stay order in the examination conduction as they have mentioned that many candidates paid money for buying the form and many had to come from distant areas and had to stay in hotels just to fill up the forms.

The adhoc teachers alleged that there are some anti-social elements in the department who are not in favor of the local candidates as in the earlier examination conduced there were no criteria mentioned where as this is the first of its kind in the state. Finally the candidates appearing in the forth coming examination added that the stay order for the conduction should be met within 3rd of February or they are ready to take the help of the court if required but the protest will continue.
