The Hon’ble area MLA cum Chief Whip, Ugen T Gyatso Bhutia on 24th of December laid the foundation stone of two storied temple, 97 years old Kirateswar Shivalaya Mandir at Tumin Sheley in East Sikkim.
Smt. Lhakila Tongden Lepcha (Member of State Planning Commission) was the special guest for the auspicious day. The ward panchayat Hem Raj Adhikari, during his address put forward few of their grievances for the construction of the two storied temple, construction of PMGSY road from Shelay to Laxminiketan via Tumin Khola and provision of drinking water in the area.
The chief guest urged everyone to take proper care of the Mandir and its premises and assured that the construction of the Mandir will soon start. There should be contribution from everyone for such good cause like construction of temple. He further said that the construction of PMGSY in the area to be completed soon and also that provision of drinking water in the area will be carried out soon.
After the foundation stone was laid, the chief guest visited the mandir and its premises and also attended the puja being performed in the mandir. On the occasion, the Mandir committee also conducted a religious programme. The welcome speech was delivered by M.L. Chamlagai, General Secretary, organizing committee, followed by the history of the temple in brief by R.P. Adhikari.
Ram Chandra Dahal was felicitated as he had donated the land for the temple. The religious cultural programme including Bhajan and kirtan was also presented as a part of the programme. The rendition of Bhagawat Gita was also conducted by Chandra Dahal. The vote of thanks was proposed by Indira Dahal.
