One day training on TB for NGO’s

Tuberculosis -a life taking bacteria is one of the major problems that our state is facing; therefore the public should be more aware of it. Regarding the same a One Day Training Programme on Tuberculosis for the NGO’s of Sikkim along with an Interactive session taking the theme Global Health Advocates, Civil Society Involvement in Tuberculosis- Advocacy in Sikkim was held today at the Nepali Sahitya Parisad Bhawan, Development Area. It was organized by Jagriti- IRCA- ASHI Sikkim Branch in co- ordination with Action- Pune.

Mrs. Pushpa Basnet, Vice- President ASHI while addressing the gathering said that there are many misconceptions about this disease. But if the public is fully aware of it then it becomes an easy task to curb it. Hence, through the NGO’s people can be rightly educated about tuberculosis. Mr. K.C. Nima Bhutia, resource person and the regional co- ordinator of Action- Pune educated the NGO’s about the various kinds of tuberculosis with the help of a power point presentation.

The main focus of this programme was to advocate the NGO’s especially in the field of tuberculosis. Therefore the NGO’s can reach out to people and educate and make them aware of this life taking disease. He also explained about the differences and similarities between HIV aids and tuberculosis. How they spread and how they can be prevented and treated was also explained. Twenty NGO’s were invited to the programme out of which 70% were present.
