Some of the outstanding players from Sikkim have been chosen by various top football clubs after their spectacular performance in the recently concluded All India Governor’s Gold Cup.

General Secretary Menla Ethenpa Sikkim Football Association informed about it to media. He also mentioned that these 5-6 players were chosen by the coaches of these big football clubs but the schedule for their departure has not been finalized, yet.

He also informed that this was the best season for the AIGGC and thanked the local people for their support to make it a success. However it was also mentioned that the locals still have the mindset that teams from outside like Nepal are superior and come to watch their games, but the same preference is not given to local teams. Hence he pledged to the local football lovers of Sikkim to support their local teams as they have been supporting the teams from outside.

This season was better from the financial point of view also said the General Secretary. Adding that even though they did not receive the full budget but still it was much better financially compared to other seasons.
