Public Order Bill to be reintroduced with ‘people’s permission’: Sikkim CM

In the Vote of Thanks on the conclusion of the four day long Budget Session Chief Minister Pawan Chamling said that his government will re-introduce Sikkim Prevention and Control of Disturbance of Public Order Bill in near future taking the permission of the people of Sikkim. He said that the bill is not at all against the constitution.

The bill will not violate the article 19 of the Constitution of India rather it will help to give security to people of state along with giving freedom of expression people. The bill will not mislead the people or violate people’s rights stated the Chief Minister. The bill was withdrawn in favor of people of Sikkim but will be placed again after taking their permission, he said.

The CM said that the bill was manipulated by some political parties trying to misguide the society and some irresponsible person have misinformed the society regarding the bill. The bill was withdrawn by the government in favor of people and the government is hoping that in days ahead the citizens across state will understand the importance of the Bill.

‘We are all responsible persons so all opposition parties have to take responsibility too. The opposition parties always opposes the government’s decision, plan and programme but the opposition in times of necessity or for the welfare of the people should also support the good work of the Government’ stated the Chief Minister.

Furthermore addressing about the forty days village tour CM said that the tour was very hard but he feels happiness and joy as the tour was an example in the country.

During the tour many plan and programme has been sanctioned and the first phase of the sanctioned work will be commenced within the month of September 2011 and after completion of the first phase the 2nd phase will start.

All the sanctioned plan and programme will be completed within three years time, informed Chief Minister to the House.

State Government wants to make Sikkim a corruption free state and considering the same the government had also passed the Lokayukta Bill in the Assembly to carry out all works with transparency. Apart from passing the Lokayukta Bill the government has also formed R.K Patra Commission which will check all activities of the Government too.

Sikkim Government fully, whole heartedly supports the Janlokpal Bill but act is not important as there are many act in the nation like IPC 302 but law does not give security to people rather punishes the accused concluded the Chief Minister.
